One thing I generally like about this one is the pesudo-symmetry created by the guideway there - somehow it creates an illusion, a feeling of symmetry, even though there is no symmetry at all in this piece. It's like a critique on our delusional, materialist society - the buildings could be a representation of the people and their work, and the symmetrical illusion represents the delusion that they are all perfect, when they are actually not. Then again, maybe I'm looking into things a bit too much here.
And maybe I also notice the small things too much, but I think the rear brake lights of that double-deck bus below there, though tiny, sort of adds another dimension to the whole piece.
The flat is means of housing the populace in general for the populace of middle income (middle high to middle low)
If this was the 60s, people won't care for the design much but over the decades individualism becomes a concern for those who are brought up to the norms of living here and the governing body decides to instill a sense of specialty to the common bees nest which I too am a part of.
The kind of synergy of symmetrical illusion needs to be part of this settlement scheme else it'll be an eyesore for people, the economic backbone of the country. A discontented citizen is something they'd avoid but I don't think that everyone cares for it.
Not sure whether SBS Transit is maintaining them properly though - I haven't been on the Sengkang or Punggol LRT system for ages.
